Employer Link  is our dedicated service offering recruitment and job brokering services and focuses our work with local employers. It aims to ‘Link Local Employers with Local People’ by enhancing the employment opportunities available to Sunderland residents who are looking to find work  or progress in employment.

Employer Services

Employer Link offers a range of services to suit the individual needs of your business at no cost to you, the employer. We offer professional and honest advice.
Aspects of the free recruitment service include:

  • Links to a diverse range of over 3,000 applicants who are committed to looking for work
  • Application sifting, screening and assessment of applicants
  • Advice on further customised training and funding to up skill your workforce
  • Access to a range of venues throughout the City offering both individual and group meeting rooms and interview facilities
  • Aftercare services for clients moving into work to aid retention

Dedicated Account Manager

  • You will be appointed a dedicated member of staff who will manage the relationship
  • Single point of contact throughout your recruitment process who will manage all aspects of placing your vacancies including advertising, matching, screening and any other recruitment related activity

Recruitment Advice

  • Specialist advice on good practice and all aspects of recruitment to suit your individual requirements
  • Advice on where and how to advertise your vacancy and what you can and can’t ask for in a job advertisement
  • Support in the preparation of job descriptions and person specifications
  • Design of application forms

Advertising Vacancies

  • Vacancies will be advertised throughout the Job Linkage network in Sunderland
  • Your vacancies will be displayed and promoted to clients in the 12 local offices covering the whole of the city. Most offices are open daily, Monday to Friday and an average of 250 clients visit them every day
  • We can place your vacancy with Jobcentre Plus which will mean that it can be accessed via job points in Jobcentre Plus offices across the region or via the internet
  • When placing a vacancy you will receive our free recruitment administration service. We will send out application forms to interested clients on your behalf and collect completed applications. After any sifting or screening we would then be more than happy to arrange assessments or interviews at your convenience

Job and Skills Matching

  • Free job and skills matching service matching the most suitable clients on our extensive caseloads to your recruitment criteria
  • All matched clients are work ready, with relevant skills, experience and attributes to suit your vacancy

Access to over 3,000 potential applicants

  • Employer Link has access to over 3,000 potential applicants for your vacancies via Job Linkage
  • Each year we register over 2,000 new clients to the service that are looking for work
  • We support our clients extensively on an individual basis in their search for employment through the provision of information, advice and guidance
  • During the last financial year we supported 1,800 clients to access employment opportunities

Application Sifting, Screening & Assessment

  • Application sifting, screening and assessment of applicants, to suit your requirements
  • Initial application sifting against an agreed person specification
  • Screening of applicants to assess suitability for the role and your organisation
  • Assessments or ability tests in such as administration or IT

Customised Training Packages

  • If your company is experiencing growth or you are having problems finding applicants with specific skills we can work with you to develop suitable training programmes for our clients to enable them to access employment opportunities
  • This training is usually at no cost to the company and we ensure that we work with all our key partners to develop the best recruitment package to suit your needs
  • We also offer training commercially at competitive rates in areas such as First Aid, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Food Safety and Equality and Diversity
  • Courses vary in level and length from awareness sessions to accredited programmes recognised by organisations such as the Health and Safety Executive and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
  • Customised packages will also be considered for existing employees in areas such as IT, Customer Service or Presentation Skills

Meeting Rooms & Interview Facilities

  • Access to a range of venues throughout the City offering both individual and group meeting rooms and interview facilities
  • If you don’t have the facilities in house then come and use ours!

 Skill Up – A Dedicated Aftercare Service

We have dedicated specialist advisers to ensure that new recruits are given support and encouragement to enable them to stay and progress within your workforce.

  • We work alongside the Skill Up project to offer an aftercare service for clients moving into work to aid retention
  • Workplace support may include employee mentoring during those sometimes difficult first few weeks in a new job
  • Employer aftercare services include training needs analysis, advice on training and qualifications, customised training packages and an advocacy service.

Bespoke Recruitment Events

  • Every year we hold and participate recruitment events where employers are invited to attend to promote their organisation and advertise any vacancies they may have
  • A recent event attracted over 600 clients.
