Many people with health problems or disabilities and claiming Incapacity Benefits are concerned about returning to work. You may be worried that you won’t be able to cope because of your health problem and that you may have to return to sickness related benefits which could leave you financially worse off.
We work with specialist partners including Job Centre Plus Pathways to Work and Disability Employment Advisers and their contracted service providers to ensure you have the best package of advice and support to enable you to consider all of your options to return to work. The following activities are designed specifically for people on Incapacity related Benefits.
This course is held in small and friendly groups led by trained tutors whom themselves have experience of self managing a long term health problem. It is aimed at people who want to be more in control of their condition.
The courses are free and run 2.5 hours a week over 6 weeks, you will learn how to;
- Manage symptoms
- Deal with stress, depression and low self image.
- Manage pain.
- Develop coping skills.
- Relax.
- Eat Healthily.
- Work more closely with those who may be caring for you.
- Plan for the future.
If you start work you may be eligible for free travel for your first few weeks of employment. You must be registered with Job Linkage and actively working with us to find work prior to starting work.
This gives you the opportunity to work part time for less than 16 hours per week, whilst continuing to claim your benefits for a limited period, to make sure you can cope with a job. We will work with Job Centre Plus services to arrange this for you.
This is a special programme of support provided by Job Centre Plus to encourage people back into work. We will work closely with Job Centre Plus Pathway Advisers to ensure that you are aware of and able to access all services that they provide both directly and via their extensive range of specialist providers.
